Duke did not participate in the 1987 Final Four...

ACC in the Final Four (1977-present)

ACC (27; 6; 2.25)
Duke (11): 1978, 1986, 1988-1992, 1994, 1999, 2001, 2004
Georgia Tech (2): 1990, 2004
Maryland (2): 2001, 2002
North Carolina (9): 1977, 1981-1982, 1993, 1995, 1997-1998, 2000, 2005
North Carolina State (1): 1983
Virginia (2): 1981, 1986

ACC-PMA (1980-1991): 1.4
ACC-PMA (1992-2004): 1.4

PMA appears constant since 1980, with longest ACC Final Four "drought" (since 1975) appearing to be two seasons (1979 & 1980)...

A sign of the times.

Yes, it's been a rough 5 years for SEC basketball, but no one would write this same article about the Pac Ten because it wouldn't be considered news.

What if it were the BIG EAST averaging less than one regional final appearance per season?
