On the women's side, ODU Monarchs join the Atlantic Sun, as Conference USA doesn't sponsor any lacrosse.

Assuming they even wanted to join a conference. With Texas creating a lacrosse program, I would bet that a domino-like effect would occur with Southern and Western schools with whom Texas could create a conference. If they did feel like they had to join a conference, the ECAC would probably be its best bet.

They would try to join a conference, my guess is ASun or the ACC (while unlikely, its not as crazy as it sounds, they need another member and Texas/B12 have been in talks for scheduling agreements/research dollar sharing with the ACC for over a year now, plus DFW has become a huge recruiting area for LAX).

I agree with you about the dominoes, I'd bet that (assuming Texas picks it up, which BTW this isn't the first time its been mentioned) by 2020 that OU & KU will both have teams, and I wouldn't be shocked to see the PAC12 eventually pick it up too.

The ASun would be the best bet. A fledgling Texas program would be a guaranteed 0-5 in the ACC for many, many years. And the ACC has shown ZERO interest in having affiliates, in ANY sport. They will be content with 5 schools, no automatic bid, but having 3, 4 or 5 at-large bids to the NCAA tourney every year.

Depending on the Air Force conference situation, Texas and a few others could try to drum up a men's lacrosse league under the MPSF banner. Of course, given that any new men's programs likely will be at schools also adding women's programs, the next lacrosse conference could be the Big XII.

Texas would also need to find an ESPN-friendly league to be able to keep feeding the LHN. That automatically cuts out the Big Ten.
