The B1G needs to get Arizona to add hockey as well. Having both UA and ASU would allow for better market saturation in the state of Arizona, and the conference can command a higher rate for BTN. In addition to the hockey games, the B1G can require a certain number of games in other sports-the ones that are home games for the full B1G members would be on BTN, giving more reasons for viewers in Arizona to watch. Having both schools for hockey affiliation may not get $1.10 per subscriber, but it may get $0.25 instead of $0.10.

Hockey games between the Arizona schools could start at 10 PM EDT (7 PM MST) and provide live content later into the night. Even some non-conference home games versus schools like Air Force, Denver, and Colorado College would make for valuable late live content.

Women's hockey may finally get the seismic shift the men went through in 2013. If Rutgers, Iowa, Nebraska, etc. start adding men's programs, some of them will have to add women's programs because they already have lacrosse, rowing, field hockey, etc.

Three B1G schools have women's hockey in the WCHA, and Penn State is in the six-team College Hockey America. If the B1G schools check out they may just merge into one 10-team league.

How likely is it that Rutgers adding hockey would affect Arizona St playing in the B1G league?

If Arizona State goes to the WCHA, perhaps it can pull Air Force out of Atlantic Hockey if the WCHA must have 12 schools now; this at least gives the WCHA a pair of schools in the western half of the contiguous 48 states.
