FYI,Hockey conference realignment for the 2013-2014 season is not likely finished yet.

Also,I predict that at somepoint prior to 2013-2014 that someone will post all of the hockey conference changes on this board. :D :D :D

Also, blog article out of Schenectady reporting that as expected ND is joining Hockey East for the 2013-2014 season and selected home games will be televised on NBC Sports(old Versus network).Link at http://www.dailygazette.com/weblogs/sch ... work-to-te

Thanks

NOTES:
= With ND going to Hockey East, removes liklihood that NCHC would expand to 10 with ND and Bowling Green
= NCHC could still add Bowling Green and a 10th school
= Hockey East now at 11, will likely look for a 12th for balance. School could come in Miami from NCHC, Bowling Green from CCHA, or ECAC/Atlantic conferences

Did I get all that correct, freaked? I know there has been some speculation of RPI to Hockey East, etc, but for now I left it general.

Quinn,thanks for the posts.

Going into today,Hockey East had yet to select a "matchup school" for ND.

Also,(by way of clarification)all of the schools you have listed under CCHA have accepted invites(BGSU did it yesterday) to the WCHA for 2013-2014.

Thanks
Freaked

Quinn - looks good, except CCHA is essentially dissolved and WCHA is now 9 team conference with the CCHA + WCHA members you show.
I think this is what Freaked was indicating. There are NO remaining members of CCHA that are not now officially in another conference.

SO THE NET EFFECT OF ALL THIS UPHEAVEL SO FAR:

There used to be a 12-team WCHA, and an 11-team CCHA (this past summer).
We added a new program Penn State for 24.
Out of this, there are now 3 conferences:
WCHA - 9; NCHC - 8; BTHC - 6. that totals 23...
Notre Dame went East.
So in the East we have HE - 11; ECAC - 12; AHA - 12, and UAH (the only independent) - 1
Hopefully HE takes one, ECAC replaces as necessary, and AHA invites UAH, so all 3 conferences are 12.

NAH !!!!!

So with the likely possibility at UConn is joining the ACC in the near future is it likely that they lock up the final spot in Hockey East?

It seems to make the most sense in the grand scheme of things especially if ND also joins the ACC then ND, BC, and UConn could all play in the same league together.

Even UConn (along w/ ND) stays in the BE, wouldn't it make sense for them to play with ND and Providence...or am I missing something here? (program size? competitiveness?)

Is there any other program out there that Hockey East would rather go after?

Notable that ECAC Hockey mostly has schools affiliated with the Ivy League (6), and D3 Liberty League (4). The only two that aren't are Quinnipiac (NEC) and Colgate (Patriot). Also RIT (in Atlantic Hockey) is also in the Liberty League. It would be interesting to see if Hockey East takes either Quinnipiac or Colgate, if RIT would be at the top of the list for ECAC Hockey.
