If the WCHA isn't careful, they'll wind up with UAF, UAA, and UAH.

UAF = U of Alaska, Faribanks
UAA = U of Alaska, Anchorage
UAH = U of Alabama, Huntsville.

That's one HELL of a road trip !
About 4000 miles and about 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the wintertime.....
(Anchorage on the coast can get "cold", Fairbanks in the interior can get "way beyond numb...")

Maybe the History Channel can get the WCHA TV contract and tie it in with Ice Road Truckers....

More on UConn / Hockey East. This article states that some article in Hartford Courant said it's a "done deal".

http://hockeyjournal.com/news/colleges/ ... s_and_cons

Well, it hasn't been officially announced.

Maybe the hold-up revolves around UConn's time-table for recruting a roster full of scholarship players,
and an official commitment regrding a suitable venue for the team (new on-campus arena ???).

I'd personally like to see UConn to Hockey East #12, UA-Huntsville grab their slot in Atlantic Hockey, and put all this hockey realignment to bed.

If that's the way it all shakes out, it's not too bad.... far from the apocalypse predicted by some who thought the BTHC would be the death of college hockey.

I don't think this has been posted here.
http://d3hockey.com/notables/2011/Relea ... leave-ncha
It's a d3hockey.com article about the UW schools leaving the NCHA to play hockey in the WIAC, continuing a d3 hockey trend away from hockey-only conferences. Note that with only 5 teams, they don't even have enough for an AQ, so they will need associate hockey members.

WIAC and NCHA have agreed to split in 2013 instead of 2014.
