New Conference

Since there are 120 teams, I'd make 10 conferences. With 10 conferences, I'd drop the Big East from the BCS so that there are 5 BCS and 5 nonBCS (which would also open up an extra bowl slot to be competed for.)

Big 10: Since Academics are important in the Big 10, I'd leave out Iowa State (and as a Big 10 homer.)
Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Purdue, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan State, Michigan, Penn State, Pittsburgh.

Pac-10: There aren't all that many West Coast teams, so they would have to move East a hair and pick up BYU and Utah.
USC, UCLA, Cal, Stanford, Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State, BYU, Utah.

ACC: They would focus primarily in North Carolina/Virginia, and pick up a few Northern schools need be.
Connecticut, Boston College, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Duke, Wake Forest, Kentucky, West Virginia, Tennessee, Louisville, Maryland, Cincinnati

SEC: Purely Southeast geographic consideration
Florida, Florida State, Miami (FL), Georgia, Georgia Tech, South Carolina, Clemson, Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, Mississippi, Vanderbilt

Big 12: They are Big, afterall.
Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, LSU, Arkansas, Memphis, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Missouri, Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska


Non BCS:
Big East: Would become a ACC/Big 10 B team

Gulf Coast Conference: Would focus on the gulf coast; teams that didn't make the SEC/Big 12 cut
FAU, FIU, Troy, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana Monroe, Louisiana Lafayette, Central Florida, South Florida, Southern Mississippi, Tulane, Houston, UAB

CUSA: Teams that didn't make the Big 12 cut.
Baylor, SMU, TCU, North Texas, Tulsa, Rice, UTEP, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Colorado, Colorado State, Air Force

MWC: Teams that didn't make the Pac-10 cut.
Wyoming, UNLV, Nevada, Utah State, Boise State, Idaho, Fresno State, San Jose State, San Diego State, Hawaii



My numbers didn't add up to 120, so I missed two schools... some adjusting would have to be done.

All conferences get the right to host a four-team, two-round playoff during the first two weeks of December, prior to the BCS selections.

South Alabama would become the 21st team in the ACC once they are a full member of FBS, as the ACC becomes the first conference to move to three divisions.

It would be sad, it's been their home for 100 or so years. However, it just seems that over the decades, as the Big Ten reigned as one of the top conferences, Northwestern really never kept up.

This is Dream Conferences afterall, and I've always wanted a combination of Pitt, Kentucky, Notre Dame, or West Virginia to join the Big 10!

Also, Northwestern is a dry campus... it may only be an hour drive to watch an away game, but the lack of beer can be disheartening for a Wisconsinite like myself.

I was reading an old article and thought I'd make a post of a dream conference i wanted to see.

Growing up in the northeast, I always wanted to see a football conference will all the local schools. Others were in the general footprint and weren't in other conferences, so they made sense as well.

And to think, it wasn't that far away from happening. But the time has passed and it never will be. But ohhhh so close.

Face it...BC is gone. Penn St aren't going to leave the Big Ten. No other ACc schools would leave.

But why not make the most of what you have in the region and make each other stronger?

I would like to see a academy conferance of sorts with the following teams:

merchant marine academy

The Big East has alot of resources to reinvent itself and become a stronger conference. it should take a risk with some Universitys that are willing to develop their athletic programs at a high level. The market exists for a 12 team Football conference that is separate from the Basketball schools. An affiliation could be made with the remaining Basketball only schools.

The Big East Football and All Sports Conference could be as follows.

South Division

A Conference with Championship play could appeal to a Boston College and would offer them everything that they are getting in the ACC.
