Heres the senerio, all of a sudden, all the college football confrences colapse and now all 117 1-A football teams are independent. Your job is to come up with brand new confrences. Everyone can recommend a new confrences, recommend editing a current or proposed confrence or give your vote of confidence to a proposed new confrence. Now the rules:

*All confrences need at least 8 members and can't have more than 14. And yes, you still need 12 members for a championship game for those who care.

*1-AA teams can be included in your confrence proposals, but in general they should have at least 15K in home atendence. Sorry Northern Colorado!

*I will veto any outragious confrences. Don't pull a WAC or Sunbelt and stretch too far geographically or put powerhouse like USC in the same confrences as super creampuff San Jose State.

*I will also override any vetos which dont come with a reason or the reason isn't a serious one.

*Proposals will officially be approved when they have been approved by at least 3 people with a 2:1 approve/veto ratio.

*Once a team is in an officially approved confrence, they can't swich confrences without being approved by 4 people with 3:1 approval ratio.

I'm cureous to see what combinations you come up with and why. Happy aligning!

Whoa, FriarFan, approaching Nirvana in your thinking?
That 10 figure just leaps out... 8-)

Sometimes I think I'm truly gonna adopt the contrarian manifesto:
Pac10, TrueBig10, SEC10, ACC10, BE10, MWC10, BigXII-II (cut Baylor, for one),
all with championships, and great interconference play

The Great Plains Confrence will be vetoed because Montana St, Idaho St., ND St, and SD St don't have enough attendence for 1-A status. Northern Iowa is probably too low too, but I'll let that one slide.

great proposals coming in! Still waiting on anyone to voice their approval to a proposal so we still have yet to establish an approved confrence.

Bucknuts, I really like your dream. In fact, I share it. ;D This line-up would provide a tremendous TV market, would provide ND with the Eastern exposure they want, and IMHO adding the three schools would increase the Big Ten per school financials. Regarding your divisional line-ups, Wisconsin is West of five of the seven Western divisional schools.

I think the divisional alignment is good as is, but I would rename the divisions to the "Playoff to See Who Plays ND in the Championship Game" (East) and "ND's Fast Track to the Championship Game" (West). OK, perhaps a little wordy, but you get the idea and who wouldn't want to see ND play the best of the other division every year in a championship game? Well, I guess that is debatable, but it would be very entertaining to say the least.

Hmm, cybercat, maybe we should acclaim you our official map guy--very nice job (smile). I bet the ACC "contiguity" folks could use your services as well (smile)...

The problem with such dreaming of course is it makes an awful lot of BE folks unhappy. I'm not sure Midwest culture is the same as Eastern culture, and its so nice when conferences have a regional flavor...

And, yes, I know its only a game....
;)
