I got more, but here's the 3 minor conferences:

TEXARKANA (12)
Tex Division:
Baylor - Can't compete in Big XII
Houston
North Texas
Rice
Southern Methodist
TCU

Arkana Division:
Arkansas State
Louisiana-Lafayette
Louisiana-Monroe
Louisiana Tech
Tulane
Tulsa (or McNeese St.) - yeah, it's in OK, but it's close enough.

GREAT LAKES (12)
SOUTH Division:
Cincinnati
Miami (OH)
Ohio
Akron
Kent State (or Youngstown St.)
Toledo

NORTH Division:
Northern Illinois
Bowling Green
Ball State
Western Michigan
Central Michigan
Eastern Michigan

BIG WEST (8)

Boise State
Hawai'i
Idaho
Montana
Nevada
San Jose State - probably a dead program, but needed to round out numbers.
UNLV - too weak for RMC.
Wyoming - too weak for RMC.

I propose the Geography League.

Southwest Division:

Southern Methodist
Northwestern
North Texas
Southern Mississippi
Western Michigan
Southern California
Northern Illinios

Northeast Division

West Virginia
South Carolina
East Carolina
North Carolina
North Carolina St
South Florida
Eastern Michigan

Of coarse Middle Tennessee State, Central Michigan &
Central Florida would be the first schools considered should any member fail the D-1 attendance rule. 8-)

:D Impress your friends by naming the city and state each member of the "Find-On-A-Map" Conference is located.

FOAM A to Ri Div.
Baylor
Bowling Green
Clemson
Duke
Kent St
Marshall
Rice

FOAM Ru to Z Div.
Rutgers

Ya, the football league is easy. Try the D-1 Foam BB league.

Strange? thingy Nixon, Charles thingyens, Fairleigh-thingyinson, USC Gamethingys. Poor Fairleigh-thingyinson students and fans can't post a message here without pionting out an anatomical organ.

This one is fun to play around with, but might need some tweaking. Baylor? In the world of private universities, wouldn't Rice, Wake, USC, and Tulane easily make it over Baylor? And while we're at it, how about adding an academic powerhouse that de-emphasized college sports a half-century ago, but still plays at a minor level: Chicago?

CyberCat, I don't know if adding the three schools adds anything to the financials, but man it sure locks up the TV markets like no other. ABC gets basically everything from Chicago to Boston.
I split it the way I did because I believe ND doesn't get by Purdue and Indiana like everyone thinks. The instate rivalry would become a behemoth in its own right. Anyone from either of the conferences could make a run at it, although the conference with OSU, Mich, and PSU would sure be a lot harder.
Another thing..... the map gives a false sense of proximity. Columbus is approx 770 miles from Minneapolis, and 771 miles from Boston. To people in Columbus traveling to BC is no different than going Minn.

Throw "regional flavor" out the window... because the Big Ten did just that when they added PSU. Great Football is great football... no matter what regions the teams are in. BC and Cuse in the Big Ten would be IMHO.. and Dreams.... a wonderful fit.

Cybercat has put some WONDERFUL maps on the map thread. These maps will help a lot for those of you wanting to create new conferences. You can either keep them geographically close or balance the conferences with good and bad teams. Check it out! :)

Let me create a conference that would attract plenty of TV viewers, and that geographically it would ease travel costs! Ladies and Gents, the Dirty South conference!

East

Kentucky
Louisville
Memphis
Tennessee
Miss. State
Ole Miss
Southern Miss

West

LSU
Tulane
Arkansas
Louisiana Tech
Auburn
Alabama
UAB

As the old sayin' goes, we can all dream, can't we? :)

I propose the "T & A" conference...

two divisions, depending on your preferences:

The "T" Division

Texas
Texas A&M
TCU
Tulsa
Tulane
Tennessee

The "A" Division

Alabama
Auburn
Alabama/Birmingham
Arkansas
Arizona
Arizona State

Conference championship in New Orleans of course, the "T & A" capital of the world...
:D

Nice post Cracker, but your conference would have too much of a geographic spread, so a polite veto to your proposal. 8-)

I'll keep it dignified and won't even ask the point spread on that game!
