The four Texas schools are probably too far away from the other schools for this to work. Lamar and SHSU could possibly help the conference's RPI in basketball, but travel costs could really add up. The Southland sees itself as a football conference so I'm not so sure it would reload with non-football schools from the Sun Belt and Summit.

I can see the Sun Belt losing some schools to different conferences then adding Sam Houston, Lamar, Texas State and UTSA. I can see the Missouri Valley adding Western Kentucky and Denver is looking to leave the Sunbelt for a western conference. FAU and FIU could possibly join a more eastern conference. That would leave the Sun Belt with a smaller footprint, but it would also pickup the San Antonio, Austin, Houston and Beaumont metro areas.

I'd Love to see WT back in a higher level football conference, but the admins out there are always whining about football costs. They are the kind of school who could be come an upper level FCS school with administrative support, but the administration has been very soft in support of Football for quite a while now.

Now if there were a Texas based non scholarship FCS conference--- a Texas based "Patroit League"...that I could see for West Texas.

With a nearby market like Amarillo, you gotta wonder what they are thinking. Maybe travel cost. However I think a few schools in the Texas 5 state area, because of travel cost, will be forced to either drop football, drop down, or go FCS non-scholarship. Most likely non schollie...
