On Campus Al Caniglia Field regularly sells out, but is wedged in between the Basketball Stadium, the Phyisical Plant, and the College of Engineering with no room for expansion, and a poor footprint for an upper deck on either side. To make matters worse, the campus is surrounded by a private golf course. However most of the surrounding land is unused rural parcels that can be had for pennies on the dollar.
University of Nebraska-Lincoln has expressed "no opposition" for UNO moving all of their sports programs to Division I. Campus is growing rapidly in student body. With a campus chancellor with vision, It would be easily possible within 25 years of joining the Big 12 (or its successor) should Missou or Iowa State join the Big Ten or Colorado or Texas join the Pac Twelve.
