A most interesting tale comes to- possibly- a conclusion on Wednesday.

The Portland city council will vote on renovating PGE Park into a soccer-football alignment and constructing a ballpark over the Memorial Coliseum site. Portland State stands to benefit from a facility with more seats closer to the field. Two out of five votes are in the bag, one is thought to be against, two are undecided and VERY mum today. I suspect this will gain approval... stay tuned.

This means upgrades to PGE Park, likely beneficial for Portland State football.

However...

One of the things being cited was that the classroom performance of the wrestlers was subpar. I'm not sure I buy that, but one of the TV reasonings is that the program's continuation could have threatened D-1 status for PSU because of grades. I await more information on this.

I have a feeling unless there's an anonymous leak, we won't actually know the real scoop, considering grades are theoretically private between the university, the NCAA, and the students themselves.

And congrats on getting the Timbers into MLS... it'll be nice to have the Sounders come to town and lay a beating on the big stage. ;-)
