D-I after 2011

Here are my thoughts as to how it could go down after the moratorium is lifted. I'd like to see what you guys come up with also.

Sun Belt(14): Texas St., Georgia So.
SLC(12): C.Oklahoma, Tarleton St.
SoCon(12): Jacksonville St.
OVC(12): N.Alabama, N.Kentucky
AEC(10): LeMoyne
Big West(10): CS Bakersfield
A-Sun(12): W.Florida
MEAC(14): Savannah St., NCCU
Summit(12): N.Dakota, S.Dakota
GWC(8): Longwood, Oklahoma City, UM-St.Louis

Another thought is that if the new FBS move up don't find a home, they'll have to start an all sports conf. since they'll get kicked out of their old conf. for not playing FCS football

Is there room in the Sun Belt for Texas State and Georgia Southern? They have a few non-football teams and it could get interesting come basketball season.

I see Texas State looking at the WAC, Sun Belt, and CUSA if split. The WAC would be killer for travel and so would the Sun Belt (although I'm sure they would like to play UNT again.) CUSA make the most sense but I don't know if they will split in 2011.

Sly, the way I have the Belt set up there would be 12 FB and 14 bball.

I'm not sure any conference will split. We were talking about a Sun Belt split working better than C-USA splitting.

If C-USA & Sun Belt don't expand the only option is the WAC (If they even want to). In the next round of move up if the WAC is looking for anyone UTSA would be 1 and Texas St. 2. They'd only take 1. I'm thinking there's a chance of a new conference of 1-A move ups forming.

I agree that UTSA will get picked first for their market. I would hope the WAC would take both for rivalry purposes but would see why they wouldn't.

The problem with forming a new conference is Lamar and Sam Houston(if they move) won't be ready in 2011. Even UTSA may spend a couple years in the SLC though they haven't joined the schedule like Lamar has. But if the SLC enforces their by-laws then they will be done with UTSA and Texas State.

This makes it interesting because if Texas State doesn't find a conference in the FBS then they will be sitting alone.

Georgia St seems to be headed to CAA and not up right away like Lamar. I really don't see enough teams to make a new conference unless they make something like the Great West conference.

I do see enough. Texas St. would have to be Indy until 2013 when the other newbies will be allowed to move. 2015 for Charlotte
