maybe replacing UTEP with Lamar as 12 member... ;)

Seriously, this conference would command the attention of Texas 24 million, New Mexico 2 million, Lousiana 4 million, Arkansas 3 million, Oklahoma 3.5 million = 36.5 million population

I wonder could this work...
Texas Conference
All the money would stay in Texas and benefit Texas schools and Texas economy.

You forgot SMU. They'd be a "Lone Star Conference"

Texas
Texas A&M
Texas Tech
Baylor
TCU
SMU
Houston
Rice
UTEP
Texas State
North Texas
Lamar / UT San Antonio

Of course, in order for that to happen, C-USA would need to add two of UNT/TSU/TCU, keep them for five years and then the Big XII teams could join up.

The most interesting thing would be the fallout from that.
The Mountain West would probably add Boise St.
Charlotte, adding FBS football, would probably go back to C-USA, giving them nine teams.
Tulsa would lobby like mad to get into the Big 8.
The Big 8 might make a play for Arizona and Arizona State... then again, the four Texas schools have ZERO reason to leave the Big XII, unless the state of Texas basically orders them to (which will never happen, because the state would be better off siphyning off BCS money from those four to the other schools than ordering them to go to a regional conference with lesser TV interest).

Tulsa: 4,165 enrollment
Okla St: 23,307 enrollment

There's more Oklahoma State grads in the city of Tulsa than TU grads. There has to be when the school has six times the alumni base as the University of Tulsa. Despite the location, TU is third in the state, in any city.

Could break away to form a new conference. I wonder if Texas is considering that option. If Texas says yes, the rest will follow.
