Texas Governor’s Secession Talk Stirs Furor

So, if Texas secedes from the union, their schools wouldn't be in the NCAA anymore.
Now, considering the time it would take for Texas to do things like... set up a treasury, set up borders with the US, etc, the NCAA would probably work something out.

But let's say they left for a year. That would cause realignment.
The Big XII, C-USA and Southland would be missing multiple members.

What's the Big XII do? Raid the Mountain West? Do they take Memphis? Do they go back to the Big Eight?
Does C-USA add Eastern teams (FIU, FAU, Charlotte, WKU) and stay in the gulf coast?
What does the Southland (five members) do?

Gotta think BYU still tops the list for the Big XII as they were the school left out for Baylor.

Imagine a Texas-free NCAA and BCS??? Gotta figure it wouldn't be that easy for all the Texas high school players to get visas to go to school in Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, etc.

Not necessarily; if some CIS schools are reclassifying to the NCAA why couldn't schools from an independent Texas play in the NCAA?

Yeah, that's why I included the next line of the post.
