Here's a question for freaked, FSA and all you others who have been so knowledgeable about all the D3 happenings.

He it is:

Other than the UNO and Centenery downgrades to D3, anyone know any other schools that will be either upgrading from NAIA or downgrading from D1/D2?

Trying to help a friend out with some inside into what some of you have heard.

Thanks,
Quinn

La Sierra is dropping from D-III to NAIA

NAIA looking at D-II
McKendree
Malone
Walsh
Trevecca Nazarene
CS San Marcos
Black Hills St.
S.Dakota Mines
Rogers St.
NW Oklahoma St.
W.Virginia Tech
Lindenwood
S.Nazarene
Oklahoma Christian
Oklahoma City
Coastal Georgia(from JUCO)
Monroe(from JUCO)

There may be more but they are keeping quiet about it.

Some of these may not apply but all have being looking into D-II.

NAIA to D-III
I've got nothing. If no one on the NAIA board talks about it or its not on the D-III hoops page I won't know until they apply.

Quinn,

Below is the only information I have with the date I came across it. I don't track the source:

Feb 2009 -- Montreat (NC) [NAIA] considering DIII.

Aug 2009 -- Clarke (IA) [NAIA] rumored to DIII
Aug 2009 -- Midland Lutheran (NE) [NAIA] rumored to DIII
Aug 2009 -- Nebraska Wesleyan [NAIA] rumored to DIII

Oct 2009 -- Purdue-Calumet [NAIA] rumored to DIII

Feb 2010 -- Iowa Wesleyan [NAIA] no longer considering DIII.

Clarke just moved from D-III to the NAIA recently.
Nebraska Wesleyan is D-III Indy, except for football where they play in the GPAC
There were 3 or 4 Nebraska schools looking at D-III last year and they all decided to stay. Doane(NE) was another one.

Great stuff guys, thanks! I know he'll appreciate it.

Couple updates I got from a pal from one of the other sites I'm on:

* Montreat is 'retreating' to NAIA and has pulled their attempt to go Div III
http://www.montreat.edu/Alumni/tabid/15 ... fault.aspx

* Purdue-Calumet applying in next few years...
