1. WAC invites Sacramento State, Portland State, Montana, UTSA, Texas State, Lamar, all effective 2012, and announces following division alignment for football:
Idaho/San Jose State Lamar/Portland State Montana/Sacramento State UTSA/Texas State New Mexico State/Hawaii Louisiana Tech/Utah State
The cross-division games are set up to guarantee that all of the full FBS members play no more than 3 teams that are transitioning from FCS in one year. After two seasons, Texas State and Idaho swap divisions for a true West/East split.
2. Big Sky adds Southern Utah (all sports), Denver (non-football), Seattle (non-football), North Dakota (football only), South Dakota (football only) effective 2012, effectively absorbing the Great West Football Conference. Utah Valley announces football program as conditoin of joining the Big Sky for all sports effective 2014. The Big Sky announces it will sponsor Men's Golf, effectively killing the single-sport America Sky conference.
3. The Summit League adds North Dakota (all sports but football) effective 2012.
4. The four-team Great West (Chicago State, NJIT, Houston Baptist, UTPA)
