Which of the above schools is most likely to pick up the pigskin and run all the way to I-A?

UNCC could return to the Sun Belt, join the football schools in the Big East or MAC, or even return to Conference USA.

Perhaps USA will become Alabama's fourth I-A team and be the badly-needed ninth football member for the Sun Belt?

Georgia State would deliver a presence in the Atlanta market-would it be enough for the Big East?

Texas-Arlington, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, and Texas-San Antonio (all Southland) could all entertain offers from the WAC, Conference USA, Sun Belt, or even help reestablish the Southwest Conference.

Old Dominion and Virginia Commonwelath each have an enrollment of over 20,000. ODU offers the Norfolk market while VCU offers the Richmond market, both right in the footprints of the Big East and ACC. ODU and VCU are both former Sun Belt members, would provide a logical extension for Conference USA (Marshall, East Carolina), the Big East (WVU), the MAC (Temple, Ohio), and could even be longshots for the ACC (Virginia Tech, Virgina).

I personally propose the creation of a new Division IA Football Conference consisting of schools that currently don't sponsor football:

The New South Conference. Consisting of:

Coppin State
Maryland-Eastern Shore
Old Dominion
Virginia Commonwealth
High Point
UNC-Charlotte
UNC-Greensboro
Winthrop
Georgia State
Kennesaw State
South Alabama

I would call the conference the New South conference.

Come on, surely we could find a 12th school to allow for that ever-important conference championship game! How about Mercer?

South - USA, Mercer, KSU, GSU, UNCC, Wintrhop
North - High Point, UNCG, VCU, ODU, UMES, Coppin

Isn't Old Dominion picking up football in 2009?

USA is in a nice uninhabited pocket as far as I-A football is concerned. I think the closest school is Southern Miss.

Would they play at Peebles or build on campus?

As a guest cannot reply to Lash (or is it Lashette?) on 90% of threads. This in your face attitude and pro Big East board, and overstating Big East capabilities, and understating accomplishments of other conferences shows an unsettled bias.

From a Duke grad and fan, talking basketball here. Can't touch this, Lash. A C C ! A C C! A C C ! A C C ! A C C ! A C C !

While Duke was not so thrilled for ACC expansion, does anyone want to return to the Big East? oh yeah, maybe Temple, but they weren't allowed to play basketball for you. A splintered conference you have. A feeder conference you have.
