Maybe some day down the road all conferences will want 16 teams with four quads.

Pacific Athletic Conference (PAC)
(
California: USC, Cal, Stanford, UCLA
Desert: UNLV, Arizona, Arizona St., New Mexico
Mountain: Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Washington St.
Coastal: Oregon, Oregon St., Washington, Hawaii (they are so far away it doesn't matter which zone)
)

Big XVI Conference
(
Mountain: BYU, Air Force, Boise St., Fresno St.
Heartland: Kansas, Kansas St. Colorado St., Iowa St.
Southwest: Texas, Texas Tech, UTEP, TCU
South: Oklahoma St., Oklahoma, Baylor, Houston
)

Southeastern Conference
(
Dixie: Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Mississippi St.
Atlantic: Florida State, Florida, Miami
Boone: West Virginia, Kentucky, Memphis, Tennessee
Bayou: LSU, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Ole Miss
)

Big Territorially Expanding Northerners
(
North: Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan St.
Chicago: Notre Dame, Northwestern, Illinois, Iowa
The Ohio: Ohio State, Louisville, Indiana, Cincinnati
Coal: Penn State, West Virginia, Pitt, Purdue (Boilermakers of course go in the coal division, regardless of geography)
)

Atlantic Coast Conference
(
Northeast: Boston College, Connecticut, Army, Syracuse
Mid-Atlantic: Rutgers, Maryland, Navy, Virginia
Carolina: North Carolina, NC St., Clemson, South Carolina
Atlantic: Wake, Duke, Vanderbilt, Va. Tech
)

After all is said and done, the rest join forces, or go FCS:

Conference-USA
(
Southeast: UCF, USF, ECU, Southern Miss
Southwest: SMU, TCU, Tulsa, North Texas
Northeast: Marshall, Miami (OH), Northern Illinois, Bowling Green (I like their colors...)
Western: Wyoming, SDSU, Idaho, Montana (FBS upgrade)
)

That gives you 6 conferences with 96 total teams. 8-team playoffs would be played with all the champions and 2 at large berths.
1. Pacific Athletic Conference (PAC)
2. Big XVI Conference
3. Big Territorially Expanding Northerners (Big TEN)
4. Southeastern Conference
5. Atlantic Coast Conference
6. Conference-USA

this is what it is looking like and I'm all for it.....This might help getting rid of the BCS Bowls to something more defined
Also the NCAA might as well start figuring out how to pay college athletes .....this will sure help the parents out and get rid of some of the petty allegations the NCAA tries to hang on Universities at there whim.
