DawgNDuckFan - i sure hope that you are right about
trained-geese. something has to happen and i think
that it will likely be in 2005. i also think that ND will have
to do make a decision on join a conf. or be on the
outside looking in. no more free BE BCS passes to their
bowl games. and, you saw how the B-10 threw their
weight around to make sure that IOWA got into the
orange bowl over ND. the gig is up. you have to have
more than one team in a conf. ie; the ND conf.

mooseheadcane, definitely agree that Notre Dame must join the BE or go. Should Tranghese be blamed for taking Notre Dame without football in the first place. Not sure he had a choice. The BE basketball schools are the primary reason that Penn State is in the Big 10 and Notre Dame is in the conference without football.

Couple of things that might change the future layout of the Big East.


Will the basketball only schools continue to slide in basketball strength? Georgetown is in danger of missing the Big East tournament. St Johns, Providence and Seton Hall are not much better.

Can Temple improve in the next couple of years with juco football requits and remain in the conference?

Will Villanova upgrade to 1A?

Will NBC renew the ND tv contract?

If the BE basketball only schools do not start showing some life, a future Big East could include the following type of schenerio:

Syracuse, Rutgers, BC, UConn, Pitt, Temple, WV, Louisville, Va Tech, Miami

lash/chuck - i agree, however, i don't see TEMPLE
staying. they just don't seem to have a fan base.
i have a nephew who enrolled in dental school last
fall, and for whatever it's worth, he said that the talk
around campus is that one of the option that TEMPLE
FB may consider dropping down to div. 1-aa.

re; BB only schools in the BE. i just don't like the idea
of the tail wagging the dog. the BB only schools must
consider the needs of the all sports schools, otherwise
the land scape will definately change in the next
2-3 years.

re; ND; might be a good idea if you start a new tread,
something like - will ND join the BE FB conf.???
