To begin, I have sent the administrator an email requesting the titles given to highest-level posters be changed to something more neutral and sports related. I hope everyone realizes these titles are given by default to all members, and they are assigned according the nomber of posts you've offered. No basic member has control over that. I, for one, never intended for this to be a feature of discussion and don't recall assuming the title for any facet of my arguments. Apologies in case I missed something in the past that did offend anyone.

Turtlefan, et al: I'm an ACC fan (GT) and a Christian (teaching Sunday school). My ire above was raised over the allegation that I was "mocking God." Knowing I have no control over that title it sounded like a dodge from the actual discussion. It may not have been intended as such, but it was received as a personal attack. In my anger I shot back; Not my style but I'm not usually in such a position.

Disagree with me on the issues as you wish and I'll be sure to give you equal credence and respect. Hopefully going forward we can maintain the integrity of the board and leave the debate to sports.

You say that you are a sunday school teacher and thus of course are held to a higher standard. How many weeks have you been referring to yourself as "GOD"?
When did you first complain about this title?
When did it finally dawn on you that you were committing blasphemy?
May I kindly suggest that for your own good that you seek out and discuss this matter with your spiritual counselor?

Hey Billy, chill. GunnerFan apologized if anyone misinterpretted anything said as offensive. He has been a regular contributed to the board and it has benefited from his posts.

L&D here- Columbia & Fresno; not PSU & UGA

Good to see the ACC is getting some good ole time religion! See what happens when when you pick up Va Tech and embrace Jerry Fawell's domain from nearby Lynchburg. Maybe #13 for the ACC will be Liberty University ;D.

The use of any term that associates any carbon units with deification is a controversial choice inclusive of the world of secular humanists.

Gang,

This has likely been beaten to death. I've been popping into this forum every half day or so to check news and have seen only this go-nowhere debate. Would love to see some posted as the news prior to this debate has been very informative - particularily for someone like myself who doesn't get a lot of NCAA news in the local media.

Thanks all - hope you don't mind the $0.02.

Dave B,the way this board is now set up there are plenty of different topics to choose from. There is no excuse for not having something to discuss.

Dave,
Let people speak freely and say what is on their minds. Most of these posts are personal opinions. What you label, your own value judgment, as no-where, can be important to others. Like a highly seasoned school teacher presenting her case before a judge or jury, she is going to have her say whether some others want to hear it or not.
While the above posts were deviating from the specification of the thread, it did emerge here. I have a far greater issue with someone attempting to suppress comentary as opposed to someone disagreeing with a view I have, and even delivering it in an obnoxious way.

Since the ACC has already expanded to 12, and the majority of the posts following the expansion haven't even approached the subject of any further ACC expansion, I say we retire this thread until the ACC decides to expand again.

Up to now there are two things I am careful on debating, religion and politics. The BCS may become the third.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion on religion, however, the problem with organized religion is control. Everyone whats to control someone or group and every religion is no different. Come to think of it, is that not what the BCS is about control?

I find it very interesting that the ones having concerns with the use of 'god' in the title were the same ones promoting the ACC recent expansion and improved revenue stream at the expense of the old BE.

I guess the term "do un to others and you would want them to do to you" does not imply here.

Its Sunday and we all live in the greatest country in the world that lets us have the benefits to be different and have our own opinion on religion, politics, and of course the BCS.

With that said, agree with DnD and this thread should be retired.

It's really disappointing that this thread, or board, has become mixed up with religion. We're talking football and football economics here.

Would it not be nice to just skip this football season and move directly into 2005.

This way all the new alignments could start fresh.

The ACC could go it merry way and hopefully live up to the hype and money that has been so generously provided by ABC.

The new Big East could finally forget about the ACC and start building it football league again. How many BE fans would like to have BC in the ACC this year to ensure the school would have no chance at a BCS bid. Va Tech has already positioned itself to the bottom of the new ACC and is waiting for BC to join - the bottom that is.

Conf USA could finally get a 12 team conference it has desired for so long.

MWC with TCU may just be postioned to prove it belongs with the other 6 BCS conferences.

MAC becomes a true 12 team conference.

The WAC and Sun Belt - well there is hope at least for geography sake.
