Upon deeper reflection I'd have to think the Miami (Oh) snub was the most galling. The concept of the MAC being a one bid league should be sickening to all.

Actually, the selection committee did a decent job. Bubble teams such as Maryland, Indiana, Notre Dame did not make it, so the politics of it appeared not to be extremely heavy. Certainly cases could be made for Davidson, Buffalo, Oral Roberts, etc.
However, if one of the at-large "left outs" had replaced one that was selected, then whoever is "left out" would have an issue.
To prove the selection committee wrong, let's see how those among the "left outs" prevail in the NIT.
I do think there could be higher regard for the Southern Conference and the MAC. Contrary to some impressions, these conferences often have multiple teams worthy of post-season opportunities.
While I do not have an extensive issue with those selected, certainly the seedings are subject to some second guessing. The claim was that they tried to keep schools somewhat close to home when possible. Too much of this though, can reflect differing impressions of strength among regions. However, as a general view, the seedings looked as if they were done thoughfully and attempted objectively as well.
