Article out of Boise with comments from WAC Commish Karl Benson.Apparently the WAC will hire a PR firm to try and help BSU get a BCS slot this year.
Also,BSU is apparently having trouble lining up a "road" OOC game for 2011. What's up with that?

The rotating chairmanship of the BCS was due to pass from John Swofford (ACC) to the new head of the Big East John Marinatto.

I'm guessing John wanted no part of having to defend both:
a) the existence of the BCS, and it's exclusionary structure and selection criteria, and
b) his own conference's automatic bid, which is constantly under attack from the MWC publicity machine (even though right now Cincy and Pitt are BOTH in the top 8-10, depending on who's poll you like).

Given that, it made a lot of sense for the BCS to hand the job of being it's "public face" over to an individual not associated with a specific conference. Constantly re-applying lipstick to this pig (the BCS) is a full-time job !!!!

In an apparent victory for the MWC the BCS has recently announced that the BCS Presidential Oversight Committee will be expanded to include a representative from each of the non-AQ conferences. This was one of several MWC demands made earlier this year.Link at http://www.bcsfootball.org/cfb/story/10 ... up-expands

Well that's certainly interesting....

SO this press release would have you believe that all the FBS teams (save Army and Navy) now have representation !
Do the 5 non-automatic-qualifiers have voting priveleges ? Or is this all just a lame P.R. move (why do I expect it is the latter ?)

Of course, any vote about expanding opportunity for the non-BCS conferences will end up 7-5, with the haves out-numbering the have-nots. So is this effectively "token representation" ?

The MAC, Sun-Belt, C-USA, MWC, and WAC actually ARE parties to the BCS Agreement, however at least the WAC and MWC agreed "under duress / protest".

I would be more likely to buy into this being a "democracy", if the haves and have-nots were not so polarized, and the have-nots were not being "controlled" as a voting minority. What would happen if CUSA split (thus earning an extra representative), and some FCS "move-ups" fromed a conference and demanded a representative ? Suddenly the numbers skew.... At that point, the MWC would have to be admitted, on the condition that they consistently vote with the "haves".

And Notre Dame sits on it with the equivalent vote of a 12-team major conference. Strip that, let independents have a seat of which ND can rotate with Army and Navy. That is, if the 5 current non-BCS conferences are represented.
It'll never be equal, even the top conferences vary in size. However, all can have some voice at the Presidental oversight level. Maybe proportion votes based on conference level and size.

it kinda confused me at this part:

BCS Executive Director Bill Hancock said he felt it was necessary for all conferences to have a say in the committee’s decisions because of recent success by schools from non-automatic qualifying conferences, including Texas Christian of Conference USA and Boise State of the Mountain West Conference.

TCU is not a current member of the C-usa and boise state has never been a member of the moutain west. it's a good thing that all conferances have thier say but it's said that the BCS executive director doesn't know what college is were or the writer dosn't.
