So if you buy into the article, the BE is likely to go forward with 6 bowl tie-ins (same number as they have now).

This indicates the BE is pulling out of the International Bowl in Toronto.

Do we have any confirmation of that ? This could be true, as the Humanitarian Bowl was scrambling for a tie-in, and they were reportedly going after the MAC, which currently was the other conference with an International Bowl tie-in.

If the number of bowl-eligible teams stays at 68 (can't see how it would go up), that will support 34 bowls, and the new Yankees Bowl and Dallas Football Classic would knock two current bowls from the picture.

The ones that appeared to be scrambling for renewals to stay alive appeared to be (in no particular order):
Roady's Humanitarian (Boise) - WAC + who ? (MAC ?)
Little Caesar's (Detroit) - MAC + who ? (Big Ten dropped out)
International (Toronto) - MAC + who ? (Big East has not yet renewed)
Papajohns.com (Birmingham) - SEC#9 + (no official word that BE has renewed)
magicJack St. Petersburg (St. Petersburg) - CUSA team + (no official word that BE has renewed)

The BE was likely to renew with 2 of these 3 (International, Papajohns.com, magicJack St. Petersburg). The third of these might die - perhaps it's the International.
That would free up the MAC to go to Boise. Especially if the Little Caesar's is afraid to press on without a committed partner.

Any official word on the above bowls would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Tute79

Interesting that 3 of the least watched ESPN bowls were Big East tie-ins. Did not expect some of those clunkers like Idaho vs Bowling Green to get better ratings.

I really dig the Pinstripe Bowl. I know it's a BE 4 vs a B12 7, but I like it.

With only 8 teams in the Big East, there's a good chance EVERY year that the BE 4 will come from a pool of Rutgers, UConn and Syracuse. all 3 would sell tickets and give the Big East a real homegame bowl. The other options aren't bad at all either...I could see Pitt and WVU fans coming in large waves too. And that leaves only Cincy, Louisville and USF whom might not sell as many tickets as the other 5, but still could represent strong.
