Denver Post article with comments from MWC Commish who claims that recent MWC membership losses have been substantially balanced by BSU addition.Should be interesting to see how close MWC comes to getting 7th BCS Autobid spot after 2011 FB season.Link at
http://www.denverpost.com/colleges/ci_16900712Sure will be. Figure that there is a benefit for MWC being included. 1) it provides access to a newly united region of the country...there are now only 4 total FBs schools in the entire region not in either the P10 or MWC. 2) with the Big East having some troubles with a 4 loss Uconn team in (while better programs this year like BSU and Nevada aren't) there is something to say about balancing the field. Sure, most years the big dogs will still get 2 in (Big Ten, SEC)...and it should be that way most years. But this year, had BSU not lost to Nevada, TCU would have been out in favor of 2 loss Arkansas. Ouch.
Of course, I favor adding the Cotton Bowl as the 5th BCS game other than the championship. Give the Big 12 the tie-in, give the Fiesta to the MWC and the MWC an AQ. Would also free up another single BCS spot that would likely go to a 2nd Big Ten, SEC, P10 or B12 team. So most years, you'd have:
SEC: 2 teams
Big Ten: 2 teams
Big 12: 2 teams
Pac-10: 2 teams
ACC: 1 team
Big East: 1 team
MWC: 1 team
At-large: 1 team
Might also be worth lifting the (2) team max per conference of that happened. There would be years when no at-large now would be in the top 12, no need to punish a top 12 school.
