CCC Intern for Fall 2011
http://www.thecommonwealthcoastconference.com/news/2011/7/20/intership2011.aspx?path=gen

Looks like the nine "defecting" schools along with Eastern Nazarene will remain in The Commonwealth Conference for 2011-12.

Job posting (dated 7/20/11) on TCCC website for "Sports Information and Championship Administration Internship Commonwealth Coast Conference" for Fall 2011 lists "Additional tasks/duties will require the intern to:
• Communicate with SIDs in 10 institutions

Has anybody heard any more news about the new Southern Athletic Conference that was formed with Berry College and 7 teams that left the SCAC? Potential new additions to this conference? New Conference Headquarters? In looking at the new SCAC Basketball Schedules that are just out it looks like some possibilities might be.......

Westminster College, MO
Rust College, MO
Washington University, MO
LaGrange College, GA
Piedmont College, GA
Greenville College, IL

What does the people in the know think about this?

8-) Tarkiokid need to add the new DIII conference that was formed in June 2011 after 7 schools split from the SCAC. This new conference now has a NAME = Southern Athletic Association according to Jay Gardiner.

Does anyone have probable schools that could be added to this new ASSOCIATION before 2012 Season Starts.

I would love to see Westminster College, UT be added to keep the elite academic reputation.

Does anybody have any input as to what potential schools will be added to depleted SCAC starting in 2012? Is it going to be able to stay afloat by adding at least 3 schools? What is the scoop on this as the SCAC seems to be completely QUIET on the internet front. I had heard orignally that Texas Luthern University in Seguin might be a potential addition to the SCAC and possibly Centenary? Has anybody heard anything about possible SCAC changes since the June 7th, 2011 announcement that 7 schools are pulling out of the SCAC starting in 2012? :?:

Spursdad - Thanks for supplying the name of the new conference (SAC)

Haven't heard anything yet.

The AD's and the conference commissioner are probaly busy assessing the situation.

I really see Colorado College thinking long and hard about moving up to D-II (RMAC). They are very isolated in D-III, and now their conference has been decimated.

The options for the 4 Texas schools in the SCAC would seem to be:
1) Try to attract other schools (targets could be current members of the NAIA Red River Athletci Conf. (RRAC), or members of the 16-school D-III American Southwest Conference
(which includes Centenary and Texas Lutheran, among others), OR
2) Disband the conference, operate it as a scheduling alliance while the teams are temporarily independent, with the teams looking to latch on somewhere (like the ASC or move up to D-II).
D-II now equires an invitation. The Lone Star Conference is being picked over by the D-II MIAA and GAC. It may soon be further picked over by the D-I Southland.
So the LSC may soon be looking down to D-III or NAIA for replacements in the Texas / La area, however, their preference would be to invite schools that play football.

These things take time, and there will be a trickle down affect in play here....

I doubt Westminster, UT would be added to the new conference. Part of the reason those 7 schools broke away from the SCAC was because they were sick of long road trips to Texas and Colorado. I think Westminster may be a possibility for the SCAC to look at though.

Would the NWC have any interest in Colorado College?

tute79 thanks for the insight. Does anyone out there have a feel for timeframe involved for the SCAC to add or become independent etc.....6 months, 1 year or right up until September of 2012? It seemed at first like the SCAC had alot of options keeping the old commish Dwayne......Time will tell if this is the case or not I guess.

I wish the SCAC all the luck in the world as they are good schools.

Austin College might be a good pickup as its more Northeastern Texas and location wise not so far.....

Do you think they would ever consider joining the NEW SAC now?

Or does anybody think the NEW SAC would consider adopting them in the future? :?:

Found the answer to my own Question....Sounds like the SCAC meetings have been postponed....but they will have to do something by Jan 2012......so around this time or a little b4 we should have some news from the insiders about the direction of the SCAC is going to take......Colorado might make a decision even sooner however.

Did anybody happen to catch that Benedictine-Springfield (IL) is now in the American Midwest Conference and that Mid-Continent is thinking about going there as well. The rest of whats left of the TAAC might want to explore the AMC as an option for relocation.
