I live in suburban St. Louis, and the local media is on it.

They have reported that there is nothing EXPLICITLY listing SEC membership on the agenda,
however, there is listed a closed-door "executive session" toward the end of the agenda, and that is where all expect SEC membership to be discussed.

Meeting tonight is on campus of UMKC.

Meeting a few weeks ago was on campus of UMSL, and agenda took the exact same form (when Deaton was authorized to "explore alternative conf. membership options").

If this follows the TA&M procedural path, the next public announcement will be Missouri withdrawing from Big XII.
There will be NO MENTION of the SEC (to sort of absolve the SEC from any involvement in Mizzou's decision-making process up to this time).
Then in a few days, Mizzou will suddenly get an urge to apply to tthe SEC for membership.

Thanks tute, our Missouri/St. Louis correspondent, deep in the trenches of the Big 12/SEc quagmire.

I can only surmise that the meeting was moved up to tonight, because the Curators must have gotten free World Series tickets to Game 2, instead of Game 1.

Obama's winging in to attend tonight.
This has the effect of:
screwing up rush-hour traffic when they close a few Interstates,
PLUS everyone at Busch Stadium gets a free cavity search on the way in (one of those "promotional nights").... "promotional", I meant "proctological"...

I'll be watching at home.

sec-

I think we are on the same page but you are just mischaracterizing my comments...no one joins the ACC to play Wake Forest/NC St or the Big 12 to play Texas Tech/Baylor, or the PAC12 to play Washington St/Oregon St, or the SEC to play the Ole Miss/Miss St. It's not that these schools provide zero value but they don't give anyone other than regional rivals a reason to join these conferences or be excited about having them on their schedule. Academics can sway the administrations and great travel locations can sway the fans but these schools don't offer much. Still Texas is playing Ole Miss soon and I'll be going to the grove to tailgate, it will be a cool experience but it still doesn't make up for the other areas they are lacking in.

tkalmus, it could be worst. I remember Texas coming to Miss. State for an OOC game not so many years back. At the student pep-rally, they castrated a bull longhorn without seditives. I was offended at the incident which made the news. I did not feel bad for any Longhorn fans, but this was act of animal cruelty. MSU school officials were appauled and apologized.
Student organizers should have been ashamed and exercised greater maturity.

Mizzou seems to have more drama queens than at showtime in a tranny bar on Fire Island.

OK so missouri is going to be the 14th team in the sec from reports I'm hearing there will annoucement of 15th and 16th team at the end of the football year sources say its going to be West Virginia and either Va Tech or NC State. I guess one from the ACC so they can invite UCONN in.

I was brainstorming and came up with a potentially workable divisional structure for the SEC + Missouri. I don't think it's under serious consideration but I'll throw it out there (teams listed across from their protected crossover games):

North -------------- South
Alabama ----------- Mississippi State
Auburn ------------ Georgia
Tennessee --------- Florida
Vanderbilt --------- Mississippi
Kentucky ---------- LSU
Arkansas ---------- Texas A&M
Missouri ----------- South Carolina

Major rivalries preserved, competitive balance maintained, and an interesting new "Battle of the Columbias" created between Missouri and South Carolina. I don't know how teams would feel about Texas A&M and Florida in the same division (recruiting purposes). Considering they've dealt with the East teams having a "Florida advantage" for years I don't think it will be much of a concern.

What source(s) did you hear the 15 & 16 reports from?

There's too much movement going on there but I like what you came up with for the divisions. There are only 5 must-save-at-all-cost division games in the SEC: Tennessee/Alabama, Alabama/Auburn, Georgia/Florida/Mississippi/Mississippi St., and Auburn/Georgia. Tennessee vs Kentucky and Tennessee vs Vandy can also be tossed in.

In your scenario all rivalries are maintained. However, I would make LSU's permanent rival to be Alabama. That really is the only change to make.

All in all, though, it's one of the more innovated division alignments I've seen.
