SEC blog article discussing the Missouri/SEC situation at http://www.mrsec.com/2011/10/what-just- ... ri-presser

Thanks for sharing, Freaked.

I've read where at least two SEC Presidents want to stop at 14. I believe that is wise. Getting too big could present negatives. Texas A&M and Mizzou are great additions.

Missouri was a Southern state once, but not now.

I hope the Tigers know what they are doing.

???
Missouri, Kentucky, Maryland, and Delaware were Civil war era border states. It's a 150 years later. If Mizzou passes on an opportunity, they may not know what they are doing.

Missouri officially invited to the SEC, but we weren't supposed to know

So now what? Any action before Deaton goes to India?

Well, here's some action:

If Missouri does join, it would push Auburn to the East Division. There is some concern about the Alabama-Tennessee series being disrupted. One solution is to go to two permanent cross-over games each season. Alabama would have Auburn and Tennessee as permanent rivals. This may also mean a move to 9 conference games.

Mizzou will be in the east. I can't imagine SEC schools ever agreeing to 9 conference games.

Nawh, look for the year 2020 as President-elect, Jenna Bush, a UT grad., promises Univ. of Mizzou a hefty federal grant to study decision-making processes, and finally convinces Mizzou to give up any thoughts of leaving the B12.

FROM MR.SEC

UPDATE — This morning, The Associated Press reported that MU chancellor Brady Deaton has cancelled his speaking engagement in India to stay at home and continue work on the school’s conference affiliation mess. An MU spokesperson said “the chancellor won’t go so he can deal with other duties in his office that are more important.” Take that symposium on radiopharmaceuticals.

Let's see now. Missouri will join the Big 12 -

when WVU joins the Big 12, which will happen
when the BE lets them go, which may happen
when 7 schools join the BE for FB, which may happen
when WV drops its lawsuit and joins the Big 12, which will happen
when Missouri joins the Big 12

All clear?

Something like that.....

So the ACC and Big XII could make it easier on themselves by inviting UConn, Rutgers, and Louisville.
Then there is essentially nobody left in the BE (Cincy and USF go to CUSA).
Everyone could move in 2012, and there is no issue with anyone maintaining a BE FB schedule, since BE FB disappears.
