Posting this in each of the conference threads:

About to go on vacation, so I likely won't be writing any longer articles for a week of so. So here's some long winded drivel covering each of the FBS football conferences and what to expect next in Conference Realignment:

This whole thing shows that the Big East is still a bit of a mess. They could have invited Temple for all-sports of football only and gotten them in for 2012. No more problems with a WVU replacement. Instead, they took Memphis, which meant waiting a year, when they knew they needed a school in 2012 to replace WVU. But Nova was against all sports and somehow, Memphis basketball with horrible Memphis football, beat out Temple football (much better than Memphis) and Temple basketball (likely equal to Memphis post calipari...although I love JP as coach and think Memphis will be great).

@PeteThamelNYT: SOURCE: Temple in talks to join Big East in all-sports. Decision expected by end of February.

@PeteThamelNYT: IF -- and its still an IF -- the Big East adds Temple they'd be at 13 in football and 18 in hoops when all shakes out. We'll know soon.

Looks like Nova would be favored for #14 if they agree to let Temple in, maybe they'll get to share the Linc w/ Temple as an agreement for Temple's invite.

Also sounds like Boise to BE in 2012 has fallen through, Temple may be able to join this year...

If Boise can't make it this year, then the WAC issue is a bigger mess than I thought.

Meanwhile, the Big East is purely playing numbers now. The question in my mind is whether the schools remaining will even get an increase in TV revenue with the next contract.

well there went Temple to the C-TBA for football only. This is a much better move for them. Now I hope the C-TBA stays at 16. 13/18 in the BE seems odd. Will Nova join before Louisville gets invited to the B12?

The BE bb has dropped in comparative Nielsen Ratings. How they have been handling departures and expansion does seriously impact.

Still view that if the BE had stopped sponsoring fb after recent departures, they would have had less mess to cope with, and their bb image would be impacted less. Never relinquish stature of your most prized sport at the expense of another sport, even if it is AQ fb in a somewhat unsettling stance.

Thriving some off exit fees and lawsuit settlements shall last only so long, and detracts from the deemed value of the league.
