with the MWC tv deal being less than stellar and the WCC contract up for negotiation the same year the WCC is adding BYU, I can't see Gonzaga jumping ship like that.

BYU returning would be more likely... but I'd imagine they would have the MWC pay the WCC their buyout using the check they cut to leave the MWC.

Article discussing proposed move by Air Force to Missouri Valley or WCC for non-football sports, while remaining in MWC for football.

Yes, it seems odd...makes little sense, but it's real.

That makes no sense.

If the WCC adds anyone, it would be Pacific. Creates a four-team Bay Area presence with two pairs of travel partners. Pepperdine and LMU a pair, Gonzaga and Portland a pair, and that leaves BYU/USD to pair off.

A lot has changed over the past almost 6 months since that Oct 7 post was made.

As for Air Force now, things have changed because of the CUSA/MWC merger discussions. The whole plan would be for Air Force to only leave if it were to the Big East for football. for other sports, they'd have the WAC to fall back to as a lock if they were passed over by the MVC or the WCC. Regardless, they'd have a home right away.

I was just trying to look smart when Pacific eventually joins the WCC.

Which, by the way, is Wednesday at 1 p.m. PT.

It would be a more believable story if it was Sunday at any time. ;)

Hahaha, you're good sir, very good. After you posted that I was thinking how much I'd like for Pacific to go to the WCC. About time!

I assume this was done because they wanted an even number of schools (10) for scheduling. Now none of us anticipate BYU staying for very long. Does anyone else think this means that down the road they'll be adding Seattle as a replacement?

I think BYU could be there for a bit. Sure, big 12 would take them, but that means Louisville as well for #12. And that means another $20 million payout to the Big East. Ouch. With the new B12 contract taking shape, the move to 12 might take more time...mostly because it's not a lock that they'll want to help with a $20 million exit fee for UL.

Of course, if Texas leaves the Big 12 to join the NFC East, then there will be an open spot.
