Note that ALL "merger" or "alliance" related posts should continue to be posted in the

CUSA & MWC Merger/Alliance Thread

Save the dedicated CUSA or MWC threads for NON-MERGER or NON-ALLIANCE posts. This will include straight up expansion at this point, like if CUSA adds FIU or North Texas, or the MWC adding Utah St. or SJSU.

seems no different than we've hypothesized: invite Utah St and San Jose St for 9/10. Leave room for SDSU and BSU for 11/12.

This is the infamous Mike Price segment that seemed to indicate to way too many people that UTEP was MWC-bound.

That's not what Mr. Price is saying. He's saying that UTEP will probably be playing some of those old WAC teams. Given the possible merger, yes, he would. I don't see where in that he's saying "we're going back to the WAC of sorts by going to the Mountain West."

However...apparently, Tulsa fans are going NUTS about this shift, especially if C-USA absorbs a bunch of Texas system schools, straining Tulsa's visibility in an over-saturated FBS-program region.

It makes sense to draw that conclusion, and maybe UTEP (and Tulsa) are in talks about joining the Mountain West now that Houston and SMU strain the travel schedule. I have a feeling, though, that if UTEP goes, they might campaign hard for NMSU (who, seriously, has been forgotten in this whole thing for likes of SJSU or USU).

So, MWC is at 10, CUSA at 9.

CUSA should add one more (FIU) and hold with 10.
Do nine games in conference, one MWC-CUSA cross-over, and two other games.

Five guaranteed home games a year.

That's the rumor. I'm hoping they come to their senses. There's NO NEED for them to add La Tech.

really is a shame SDSU and boise st are out of the mix for the MWC. Gotta just hope the WAC folds and Boise st is forced back and SDSU follows

How bad does the BE want Boise St? Enough to go to 16 w/ 3 more western schools who would need to join the WAC w/ BSU to save it from being the GWC 2.0

Not sure they could convince BYU to join this. I'm just thinking outside the box.

Gotta feel for NMSU & Idaho. NMSU has the better chance to have a more desirable option.
