Quinn remember last year on the FCS board when I said that the CAA could get raided by the A10 soon and everyone told me I'm dumb and that VCU and GMU's 2 final four runs were better than a lifetime of A10 talent/depth and ncaa bids. I think you were the only one that came on there and agreed w/ me.

Indeed. It's amazing to me on the CAA forum how some people, despite GA State gone, ODU just about, and GMU and VCU mobile, that people there still are saying the CAA is better. That's all 3 at-large bid schools gone...yes, CAA has had only 3 at-large bids since 2006 (GMU year) while the A10 has had 10.

They'll bust our balls though if VCU and GMU back out. At least it proves that the A10 comes for CAA schools not the other way around like some of them think.

Yeah, reading some of the "Is the A-10 really better?" comments is driving me nuts.

But it's not like I'm going to go to a CAA board and say "no, you're wrong, you're an inferior league" because that'd just be rude.

The CAA has good basketball. They've probably deserved more than the 3 at-large bids they've gotten (um, Drexel 2012?!?!? and I can name at least three others. Hofstra and Drexel got jobbed somewhere in the 2005-07 range, and Richmond got hosed in 2001 when they weren't allowed into the CAA tourney).

But just look at Richmond…

In 18 years in the CAA
-- one at-large bids
-- 11 seed as at-large. As an auto: 12, 13, 14, 14, 15 seeds.

In 11 years in the A10
-- two at-large bids
-- 7 seed and 11 seed as an at-large, 12 seed as an auto

More bids, better seeds. What's the hold up?

It was the FCS board. They were trashing the A10 so I thought I'd shed light on their nonsense.

Coastal Carolina (Big South) has announced they're reviewing conference membership and empowered their AD to make a move.

In other words, "Hey, CAA, we want in"

This is obviously very good news. If the CAA can reaffirm VCU's commitment that would be even better and I am hoping that becomes a reality next week. I am not too optimistic on ODU though because they are all in on football and CUSA is a no brainer b/c they are very unlikely to get a better football deal than that.

If the CAA can get out of this and only lose ODU and Ga St that would be a very very good thing!
