They're pursuing additional members, too. The boards are lighting up on who that might be, ranging in the implausible: Villanova (football only), to some of the more likely: VMI or William and Mary (all-sports).

I think they want W&M.

Heh... In my bagillion scenarios of what could happen, that wasn't 1 of them. NJIT to AEC? or Someone from the NEC to the AEC and NJIT to NEC?

I wonder if the Patriot goes to 10 now. VMI and William & Mary were the names I heard before Boston was added. So it means they'll add Marist instead. :P

Was out for a few hours today. Was shocked when I saw this. Seemed to come out of nowhere...all the PAtriot LEague blowhards haven't been talking about this as in development so I think it's a pretty wide industry shocker.

That said...I LOVE this move. Love it. BU brings solid academics, gives the other schools a second area school for those Holy Cross trips. Sure, they don't have football, which is why nobody looked at them as an option. Would love for them to bring it back though.

For a 10th, there's still some options like Marist. W&M would be a great coup, even better than VMI.
