I did a projection of what the new post with the 7th Midmajor bowl would have looked like over the past 4 years.
A reminder- top 4 get in the playoff unless 5 is a conference champ and 4 is not (this is something that the selection committee might do), and I used real bowl selections when possible. Also B10/P12 are the only teams that will ever play in the Rose Bowl and same goes for the SEC/B12 in the Champions Bowl; ACC/ND vs B10/SEC in the Orange; and Midmajor vs B12/P12 in the 7th Bowl. This leaves one bowl for at large teams which I filled in the with highest ranked team remaining.
2008
Playoffs 1 Oklahoma v 5 USC (non-SEC champ Alabama passed over for P10 champ)
Playoffs 2 Florida v 3 Texas
COMPLAINTS Alabama getting passed over and undefeated Utah not getting a chance
Rose 8 Penn State v 17 Oregon (highest remaining P12 passes over a few higher ranked teams but spot is guaranteed)
Champions 4 Alabama v 7 Texas Tech
Orange 14 Georgia Tech v 10 Ohio State (highest remaining between B10/SEC/ND)
Midmajor 6 Utah v 13 Oklahoma State (highest remaining between B12/P12)
At Large 9 Boise State v 11 TCU (highest remaining bumps 12 Cincy whose no longer AQ could have picked up 15 Georgia for a more interesting game)
OUT OF LUCK BELLYACHE-RS 12 Cincy 15 Georgia 16 BYU
2009
Playoffs 1 Alabama v 4 TCU
Playoffs 2 Texas v 3 Cincy
COMPLAINTS Florida and Boise getting left out
Rose 7 Oregon v 8 Ohio State
Champions 5 Florida v 19 Oklahoma State (highest remaining B12 passes over a few higher ranked teams but spot is guaranteed)
Orange 9 Georgia Tech v 10 Iowa (highest remaining between B10/SEC/ND)
Midmajor 6 Boise State v 18 Oregon State (highest remaining between B12/P12 passes over a few higher ranked teams but spot is guaranteed)
At Large 11 Virginia Tech v 12 LSU (highest remaining)
OUT OF LUCK BELLYACHE-RS 13 Penn St 14 BYU 15 Miami 16 WVU 17 Pitt
2010
Playoffs 1 Auburn v 5 Wisconsin (non-P12 champ Stanford passed over for B10 champ)
Playoffs 2 Oregon v 3 TCU
COMPLAINTS Stanford getting passed over

Champions 7 Oklahoma v 8 Arkansas
Orange 13 Virginia Tech v 9 Michigan St (highest remaining between B10/SEC/ND)
Midmajor 10 Boise State v 12 Missouri (highest remaining between B12/P12)
At Large 11 LSU v 14 Oklahoma State (highest remaining)
OUT OF LUCK BELLYACHE-RS none
2010
Playoffs 1 LSU v 3 Oklahoma State (to avoid LSU/Oregon rematch 1 plays 3)
Playoffs 2 Alabama v 5 Oregon (non-P12 champ Stanford passed over for P12 champ)
COMPLAINTS 4 Stanford missing again and LSU/OSU not getting to play lower ranked teams
Rose 4 Stanford v 10 Wisconsin
Champions 6 Arkansas v 8 Kansas State
Orange 11 Virginia Tech v 9 South Carolina (highest remaining between B10/SEC/ND)
Midmajor 7 Boise State v 12 Baylor (highest remaining between B12/P12)
At Large 13 Michigan v 15 Clemson (highest remaining, Clemson was selected over 14 OU in real life)
OUT OF LUCK BELLYACHE-RS 14 Oklahoma (could have been picked over Baylor)
Over the last 4 years in real life the SEC and B10 have sent 8 teams (max of 2 per year) to BCS games with the P12 send 6 and the B12/ACC/and midmajors+BE sending 5.
Assuming the max BCS bids are removed and more BCS bowls added, common sense dictated that the SEC would benefit...which they do by sending an additional 4 teams over the last 4 years for a total over 12 (avg 3 per year), however the biggest recipient is the B12 who would have sent an additional 7 teams to BCS game giving them a total 12 (tie with the SEC avg 3 per year). The PAC12 would have added an additional 2 giving them 8 (2 per year) while the Big Ten would have only gained 1 bowl giving them 9, and the ACC would have added another two giving them 6. And while at first glace the midmajors would appear to have added 4 bids due the loss of the Big East's AQ they only gain 1 at the expense of non top 20 WVU '11/UConn '10, plus #12 Cincy '08 who loses out to higher ranked midmajors Utah/Boise/TCU.
Thought I would share, found this setup extremely interesting.
