Do you guys see replacements for the A10 coming from anywhere else other than the CAA?
Assuming the A10 loses 5 (St. Louis, Dayton, Xavier, Butler, and either Richmond/VCU/Duquense) to give the C7 their 12, does the A10 take Northeastern, Hofstra, Drexel, Delaware and Mason?
That would cause W&M to hop to the Patriot League, as the W&M AD hinted at in this article
http://www.dailypress.com/sports/fairba ... ost?page=1That would leave the CAA with Towson, JMU, UNCW, and CoC.
I have come to accept the fact that Mason is likely to end up in the A10 and would love to see the CAA become a southern based basketball focused league with schools like UNCW, CoC, Davidson, UNCG, UNCA, ETSU, Winthrop and some others.
I could see some schools, but not all. For instance, Delaware brings little regarding basketball nor market. If we're talking all-sports with football, sure, UD would be great.
The A10 would look at bringing in only schools that would help maintain. So if they lost 5 schools, they'd go from 14 to 9. So maybe they add a single school to get to 10. But it would depend on who left. If Dayton isn't taken, all of a sudden you might see Horizon (maybe even some MVC) looked at to help Dayton out. If they lose all the western schools, but still have Richmond, GW and GMU, then maybe they look south.
So all wil depend on who leaves before looking at who will be the replacements.
