It would be nice to get the GSC but right now Columbus St., N.Alabama(put fb in the Big South), Georgia Regents, W.Georgia(put fb in the Big South) are the names willing to move up. Maybe Nova Southeastern, W.Florida, Lincoln Memorial but I haven't heard any newe info on them in a few years.

Conventional wisdom says that the A-Sun will be the feeder conference for the other conferences in the region but it could it be possible that it might actually work the other way around this time? Right now the A-Sun has 6 years worth of increased revenue as a result of FGCU's tournament run. It might be advantageous for Gardner-Webb, Presbyterian, Coastal Carolina, and Charleston Southern to jump ship and form a football league with the emerging A-Sun football teams rather than remain stuck with 5 conference mates who don't play football and 1 who plays non-scholarship.

In a perfect world the A-Sun and Big South would collaborate to make a shared football conference until one or both leagues had enough participating to have a league of their own--the Big South would hold a VA-NC-SC geographic footprint while the A-Sun remained anchored in Florida and continue to build a presence in the deep south with DII upgrades.

ASun is at 7 plus upgrade UNK. When does UNK count towards the magic number for conference status in the eyes of the NCAA?

NKU gets full Division I membership in 2016, so that's when they will count toward conference status. The A-Sun needs 7 full members to be recognized, which is where they're currently at. If they fall below that, they have 2 years to get back or they lose their auto bids.

A-Sun will add Columbus St. soon and should add UNA and tell the Big South to give them fb only invite. Big South is still going to replace VMI either w/ USCU or KSU. That will knock ASC down to 7. NKU will join the Summit or Horizon if offered.

I believe that the next step of conference realignemt for the A-Sun is to check out schools from D-II within the Southeast region (like in the Peach Belt or the SIAC or the Sunshine State or the CIAA); now that Mercer and East Tennessee State plan to join the SoCon (well, ETSU were formerly members of the SoCon before joining the A-Sun in 2005).

Writer doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to the Big South, he thinks they don't need a member since they have 12, hello VMI is gone. He also thinks they have Stony Brook, they're leaving and being replaced by Monmouth

I think for the time being K State will stay in the ASun and when their football program is ready, the Big South will add them as an affiliate. K State is just not a likely SoCon addition at this point in time and the Big South does not need them for olympic sports, so just take them for the football. Win Win Win
