As it relates to LSC + Heartland Conference following today's UTPB approval for football by UT Board of Regents.

Quote:
UTPB also must align itself with a football-playing conference. The school’s 13 existing intercollegiate programs compete in the Heartland Conference, which does not support football, so UTPB likely would play football in the Lone Star Conference with the likes of West Texas A&M, Angelo State and Eastern New Mexico.

In its proposal, UTPB addresses the possibility of an upcoming merger between the Heartland and Lone Star conferences and said it could consider seeking full-fledged membership in the latter. Travel would be less costly and extensive in the Lone Star Conference than in the Heartland, which has schools in Arkansas, Kansas and Oklahoma.

Well, the ECAC is better than nothing, i guess. BSC's tennis, golf, and cross country teams will have a conference tourney and a clear route to the NCAA post-season. However, the volleyball, baseball, softball, and basketball teams will still have to schedule as an independent. They will be eligible for ECAC's "you didn't make the NCAA but here's a consolation prize" tournaments.

That gives them 15. I wonder if they think Metro St. or someone else in the RMAC is going to join the WAC or if they plan on getting say Westminster(UT) for 16.

Fresno -

Any word on this announcement by Carroll (Feb 4th) ?
I could not find any mention of it by Googling or looking at Senior Reports, but the move seems entirely plausible ...

Senior Reports did mention that they could be considering that move, and that Carroll COULD possibly apply to go to NCAA D-2 this year
(but I guess they'd need to file their paperwork soon).
