Lot's of tears in these UCF/USF articles. They are starting to sound like BYU and UofH. Complain about the system, complain about how they DESERVE what they can't create, complain that they should just get stuff handed to them. Boo hoo.

This is my take on future Big 12 expansion. The same issue that plagued the league last year continue to exist. The answer is simple the Big 12 needs 8 votes for the same two schools to make expansion possible. Since there have never been a public report on the changing of the Big 12 TV contract, do not believe the pro rata clause was ever taken out for FOX and ESPN. I would assume all 10 Presidents would had to sigh off on the the new contract and there were a couple of Presidents that would have never sighed especially for only 10 million dollar chump change. Money is not the issue with expansion.

I believe the University of Cincinnati had the votes last year or was close on the eight votes. It was not so much about expanding with school close to West Virginia which was a benefit, Cincinnati is just a very good school in academics, athletics, and TV marketability.

BYU was the issue and its own worst enemy. Oklahoma and West Virginia two of the most pro expansion schools supported BYU. BYU shoot itself in the foot by not changing the honor code of discrimination which caused votes with the northern Big 12 schools. This allowed politics in Texas to push the University of Texas to support the University of Houston. Houston never was close to getting the votes for expansion as most schools did not want another Texas school in the league. This caused as stale mate and we are back to square one in the Big 12 with votes needed for two schools to allow expansion to occur.

Since Bowlsby publicly dismissed expansion with UCF and USF a few weeks back, this leads me to believe those two schools never was close with 8 votes needed for expansion. Miami, FSU, and Florida are always going to be the to three in pecking order in Florida and the Big 12 did not want to expand with second tier schools in Florida and could not get eight votes.

While somewhat true there are not two good schools to move the needle or currently in a power five league, the issue is more with two schools that could get 8 votes to make expansion occur.

If BYU were truly commited to joining a power league, this school would work on its image and this could possibly be the thing that could get Big 12 expansion back on tract.
