Things seemed to bottom out for Mizzou in the wake of the Black Lives Matter protest on campus, which led to the College President's resignation. A lot of fans bailed on ticket renewals. Recruiting struggled, and both FB and BB sank to the bottom of the SEC.
Things are now on the upswing. Cuonzo Martin was a great hire as BB coach, and he pulled in one of the top recruits in the US. The kid ws forecast to be one-and-done but injured hip in first 2 minutes of first game. It remains to be seen when he will return. However his coming to Mizzou, helped martin recruit a number of other good players, and Cuonzo really has the team energized.
Football team was bad last year, and started 1-5 this season. Then a big rebound. 6-0 to finish the season before losing to Texas in Houston Bowl. Offense took off, and OC Josh Heupel wound up getting UCF head coach job, replacing Scott Frost. QB Drew Lock set SEC TD pass record, and considered going into NFL draft. I think he may be back, after getting feedback his draft stock will be much higher next year. So the team is perhaps on an up-swing, but Barry Odom has got to use this opportunity to recruit, recruit, recruit....
