UNLV has fired football coach Mike Sanford after five losing seasons, a 15-43 record and no bowl appearances. Sanford’s firing comes after a 45-17 loss to Air Force on Saturday made the Rebels ineligible for a bowl game. Sanford is another coach that has been on the coaching hotseat list

Both schools have fired their coaches. WKU is 0-9 in their first year of FBS. The move at Memphis might have a bigger impact. The school is expected to hire a higher profile coach in their attempt to move to a BCS conference. Both Tommy Tubberville and Terry Bowden have been rumored options.

The University of Louisville has pegged Jon Gruden as its No. 1 candidate should the school decide to fire coach Steve Kragthorpe, sources told NFL Network’s Michael Lombardi.
